Mighty pharaohs and lifelike elephants make an impressive impact. Covering an area of 5000 m2, with around 4000 m3 of sand, dozens of lock gates, 1000-year-old olive trees, traditional fishing boats and sculptures, this exhibition is one of the world’s largest indoor sand sculpture exhibitions. Zandverhalen is an exhibition like no other. No screens or digital gadgets, but an authentic experience filled with real, natural materials: 4000 m3 of sculpted sand, discarded lock gates, wood, bones and traditional fishing boats. Zandverhalen brings biblical stories – interwoven with current events – to life in such a way that ancient histories become vividly alive once more. For visitors who grew up with these stories as well as for those who have yet to discover them.  The hall where Zandverhalen is displayed is a stage, a free space where these ancient stories can be told and experienced without any religious claim.
