Wereldmuseum Leiden is a national museum, located in a former academic hospital in the centre of Leiden. As one of the oldest ethnological museums in the world, the museum is at the heart of current affairs. With major successful exhibitions, small surprising exhibitions such as Most Wanted for the enthusiast, innovative public programmes, leading scientific research and many international collaboration projects.

In addition to temporary exhibitions, the museum also presents a number of permanent exhibitions. In eight rooms, 4000 unique objects tell more about different cultures. These eight rooms are: Africa, Asia, the Buddha Room, Japan, Korea, China, Indonesia, Oceania, Central and South America and finally North America and the polar regions.

A walk through the museum opens your view of the world. From Bali to Guatemala, from Oceania to the Arctic and from Mecca to Djenné. In Wereldmuseum Leiden, visitors discover that, despite our differences, we are all the same: human.
